Obesity and negative health effects

When we talk about a woman’s ideal weight, it’s important to have concrete values of what obesity means.

Despite claims by doctors and experts that obesity is the first step to many diseases, more and more people are overweight. The World Health Organization estimates that the number of obese people in Europe has tripled in the last 20 years. Half of Europe’s adult population is obese. According to their data, every fifth child is overweight.

Fat burdens the heart

Obesity is now classified as an endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disease. When overweight becomes chronic, it, directly and indirectly, affects many disorders in the body. Obesity has been shown to endanger the cardiovascular system, increase the risk of gallstone accumulation, cause type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and even some types of malignancies. Medical examinations of overweight people regularly reveal high blood pressure.

It is estimated that hypertension occurs two to six times more often in overweight people than in normal-weight people. Due to the accumulation of fat deposits, the flow of blood through peripheral tissues is hindered, and the body compensates for this with increased heart function, which increases arterial blood pressure. Eventually, the left ventricle dilates, which is a step toward heart failure and heart attack. An important indicator of the risk of cardiovascular disease is obesity in the waist area, which is typical of middle-aged men.

Calculate body mass index (BMI)

1. Obesity is expressed by body mass index (BMI).

2. The index shall be calculated by dividing the body weight in kilograms by the square height and expressed in meters (kg / m2).

3. A person 165 cm tall and weighing 70 kg calculates as follows: 70: (1.65 x 1.65) = 25.7

This person’s BMI is 25.7

Consequences of fatty foods

According to some studies, obesity is about 90 percent of the direct cause of type 2 diabetes. In this type of disease, the body’s cells show a degree of insensitivity to insulin, a hormone needed for normal sugar metabolism. As a result, sugar is not used optimally and its blood levels become high.

Obesity has a major impact on gallbladder diseases. Increased intake of fatty foods increases blood cholesterol, and bile is more saturated with cholesterol. As a result, gallstones and inflammation of the gallbladder often occur. There is also a clear link between being overweight and high levels of uric acid in the blood, which causes some forms of chronic arthritis. Obesity is also mentioned as a risk factor for some cancers. Women are three times more likely to develop breast cancer, seven times more likely to develop cervical cancer, and two to three times more likely to develop ovarian cancer. The hormone estrogen, which is partially secreted from adipose tissue, is known to significantly influence the development of these serious diseases, and its levels are increased in overweight women.

Types of obesity

“Pear” obesity is characterized by the accumulation of fat in the pelvic waist, thighs, thighs, and buttocks. The risk of degenerative changes in the joints and varicose veins increases. In android obesity, fat deposits accumulate in the area of the shoulder girdle and upper abdomen. This type of obesity poses a risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

What are the optimal values for a woman’s body?

The point is, every person has a certain potential – a certain number of fat cells. People who have more of these cells risk gaining weight even faster. It should also be noted that these cells divide into two parts during frequent overeating, which further increases fat deposits.

Optimal weight is the state when our body feels good. If we cross this point, health problems begin heart problems, joint pain, “rage” of hormones, a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Recent research has shown that the average weight of a woman is 6 kg higher than 22 years ago.

The notion of ideal weight has also changed: now this figure is 5 kg higher.

People believe that the media promotes weight loss, so they often cannot objectively see their own obesity. We are divided into two categories: those who try to achieve unrealistic goals, and those who feel good despite obesity, which has a very bad effect on health.
